1. Editor's Remarks

I must say there is a certain energy in the air these days. Perhaps it's simply the fact that summer has come to an end, with the kiddies having gone back to school in their brand-new clothes and backpacks, and you with renewed focus and drive to make this last half of 2003 go out with a bang!

Just look at all the resources we have available to us these days to create that impact. And with professional consultants and coaches of every color and expertise, we truly have the resources to help us ask all the 'Action Taking' questions: Are you doing all you can to stay in front of your clients? Are you present and involved in their day to day business developments or merely present by proxy? What are your clients saying about you? Are new customers sold on your services even before they've come through your door?

Now could very well be a good time to take a hard-nosed look at your professional presence and marketing strategies. After all, when else would be a better time; When the Christmas rush and festivities are upon us? Perhaps in the New Year when the competition has woken up to this idea?

So ask yourself this, "if not now, then when?" And then take a good look at your current marketing strategies (or lack thereof), including your invaluable website, and refresh yourself about what you're saying to the world and to whom you're saying it to. You get in return what you put into it - it just doesn't work any other way!

Pay Per Click: The Dream Marketing Campaign.

Just iagine how nice it would be if for every advertising initiative that you tried out, you only had to pay for the ones that actually brought the customer through the door.

Pay Per Click (PPC) is one of the best online marketing strategies - if done correctly. Where else do you get to pay for your advertising only after you actually got the potential customer to your website? In a nutshell, PPC are sponsored listings or ads in search engines, directories, or other sites where you pay when someone clicks through to your site.

Recently we had a client that had some PPC campaigns and other marketing campaigns going on but didn't have any tracking systems in place to determine which ones were actually effective. Globi came on the scene, implemented some tracking systems and, together with our experience of which PPC companies actually work, today the client has managed to save over a thousand dollars a month in random marketing campaigns. Furthermore, they continue to watch their traffic increase dramatically and now focus their initiatives on only those avenues that generate traffic.

Before you jump head-long into your own Pay Per Click advertising, there is one very significant thing to keep in mind; It is not just about paying money for various marketing campaigns but, inevitably, it comes back to the website itself. Not only should your website look clean and professional but you must also ensure that you are retaining your visitors' attention. What is your conversion ratio once they actually get to your website? Content is key. Professional appearance is equally important. As well as how easy it is to get to the sale.

Only after considering all these points, are you now ready to launch into your PPC campaign and be prepared to make adjustments to your website until you start seeing what works for your visitors. The conversion from visitor to buyer will tell you how you're doing!

4. Web Site Tip

Pop-Up Solution

We've all been part of the conversation around those nasty Pop-Ups that invade our computer screens; however, there's no discounting the fact that they work.

When used with restraint, pop-ups can actually increase your volume per sale while the purchaser still has their credit card out or boost the number of subscribers you receive. Pop-ups might even create a sense of urgency or salvage a visitor before they leave your website completely.

If you have a cleaver idea on how you would like to incorporate a pop-up on your website, let us know and we'll help you implement it.

5. Marketing Tip

But what's in it for me?

Some of you have heard me go on about the benefit of web copy but where it holds particularly true is on the subject of 'Features' versus 'Benefits'.

How often have you found yourself trapped in front of someone who has found great pleasure in talking at great lengths about themselves and to your unfortunate sheer exhaustion?

Well the same can hold true on a web site, too. Visitors are really not so much interested in the business attached to the web site but rather the "What's in it for Me!". This is why it's important to take a critical look at the content on your site - especially on the Home Page, and ask yourself, "What will I gain by using this product or service?" and then write about that.

Now that makes me want to do business with you!

From time to time, we still come across websites that work against their visitors' surfing enjoyment so each month we share these faux pas with you.

Marks the Error

Have you ever seen this image on a website? Well this, my friends, is a broken link and, additionally, a poor reflection of the way a company might do business. In fact, you might find this slightly amusing (as I know I did). But, for the purposes of this segment, I wanted to get a sample for you of what a broken link might look like and then recalled a website I had visited some time ago that I knew had one. Sadly, a year and a half later, this is the very same 'X' and now I know without question that they need a Web Developer they can count on.

So avoid being the subject of ridicule. Be sure to review your website often, test features like your Contact Form or Links, and make sure all images are present and accounted for.

Names are withheld to protect those not yet supported by Globi Web Solutions' stellar services.
