September - everything's back to normal, the kiddies are back in school, and autoreply emails aren't jumping back in your face reminding you of the fact that your counterparts were smart enough to steel away for some R & R.
With this comes the challenge of keeping yourself on top of all the great developments you have on your plate. My advice; 1) write them down, 2) number them according to importance, and 3) start with 1. and don't proceed to the next until the first one is done. This is, by the way, is one of 'the' best corporate money-maker methods out there. Try it for a week!
So you have a great product or service to offer. You're getting lots of traffic to your site, but your conversion ratio is next to nothing. No Customers, no money, no ROI from your website!
Maybe it's time to look at whether your website copy needs some adjusting by a copywriter who truly understands the Web? While all good copywriting has some common elements, there are significant differences between a web copywriter and a regular copywriter. You may already outsource your marketing communications, but the Internet is its own arena. When hiring a professional web copywriter, be sure to look for someone who has experience in writing specifically for the Internet, so that you can create great web pages.
Top Ten Reasons to Hire a Professional Web Copywriter
1. People don't read web copy.
People reading web copy typically scan the page rather than read every word. Consequently, it's vital that you have the right words and enough of them to grab and hold the visitor's attention.
2. A different viewpoint.
You may be too close to your product to see what its benefits are. A good web copywriter will help you communicate them effectively.
3. Thinking outside the box
A web copywriter will help you realize what other words you can use to describe your company and increase your visibility on search engines.
4. Killer headlines.
On the Internet, you need a riveting headline, something copywriters are trained to produce.
5. It's personal.
The web is a folksy place, not a corporate conference room. Web copywriters think of talking to one person at a time in a friendly, informal way.
6. It's a different format.
It's hard to read one huge block of text on the Internet. A good web copywriter will divide your message into manageable chunks that are easy on the eye.
7. Develop relationships with your customers.
Your web copywriter can help you develop relationships with your customers through the capture of contact information on your web site.
8. Just the facts.
People search the web looking for information, not a sales pitch. A good web copywriter will ensure your site is free of hype.
9. Prime real estate.
A web copywriter knows the top of the screen is the most important piece of real estate you own online. He or she will not suggest filling it with fancy graphics or a huge logo.
10. Good Connections.
Your web page can link to a number of other professionally written pages, containing information such as testimonials related to products.

Keep it Current
You visit a website and discover that the company you're thinking of doing business with has had articles written about them in prestigious magazines, won prizes for technical innovation and even has some photographs of their award winning products. Fabulous, you say to yourself. This is the company I've been looking for.
On closer inspection, however, you notice that the published articles are from October 2001 and the company's industry awards date back to 2000. Following further research, you determine that even the people in the photographs are no longer with the company. In fact, everything on the site is out of date. If this is how much attention the company pays to their 'window onto the world' and the first point of contact for new clients, how long is it going to take you to get their attention?
A major factor in having an effective web presence is keeping your content current.
Last month's newsletter discussed how you should keep a close watch on your website's links to avoid sending your clients on 'the road to nowhere'. Keeping your web content up to date is no less of a challenge and just as important. It needn't become a daily chore, but should be a regular one. After all, two year old articles and photographs of former employees won't inspire confidence in a potential customer, who will very quickly move on to your competition.
Staying in touch
You've worked really hard on a particular client for a long time, but now finally the deal is done. Once the sale is made, it's tempting to move on and focus solely on new prospects. It is advisable, however, to stay in touch with previous customers too. After all, you'd like them to buy from you again and to tell everyone they know how happy they are with your service. Satisfied customers can even be a great resource if your company is creating new products or services. Their input can be an important factor in the development of your future marketing efforts.
At Globi, our monthly e newsletter helps us to stay connected to the people we do business with. Some companies use direct mail or greetings cards during the holiday season. Others make personal calls periodically or deliver gifts. Some hold golf tournaments or invite their customers to join them at sporting events. Whatever method or methods you use, remaining in touch with your clients is an aspect of your company's operation that you can't afford to ignore.
Sounds good?
Shakespeare said that music was the food of love and music has certainly been a powerful force throughout history. In the modern world of the Internet, music can also have a profound effect.
Sound on your website is a big consideration and not one to be taken lightly. You may think it's really cool for your site to play a sound every time a particular button is pressed, but others might not feel the same way. Any visitor that arrives at your site in an office environment, for example, is likely to immediately shut down a page that plays music, or indeed any sound, at the click of the mouse. If people are unproductive at work, they don't want everyone in the office to know what they're up to.
You have to appreciate too, that whether your site is being viewed in North America, Europe, Asia or anywhere else around the globe, musical tastes are vast. While some visitors will love your site, others will hate it. Some browsers also still have difficulty and can crash when they encounter large sound files. If music isn't an integral part of what your company does, it's best to examine all the benefits and possible pitfalls before you decide to incorporate sound into your website.
"Thanks, we are extremely pleased with our site and the way we were treated by your company."
